Well, today, April 3, 2016 marked the end of almost 29 years of music ministry at Berea Baptist Church as well as our retirement from almost 50 years of service in the music ministry. This is just the beginning of many steps still ahead as Connie and I prepare to become full-time RVers.
Today was a good day. The congregational singing was awesome. The Chapel Ringers’ Handbell Choir and the Chancel Choir played and sang beautifully for the last time under my direction. Connie’s final offertory was very moving, a gorgeous piano arrangement of Tell Your Heart to Beat Again. And the day ended with an outstanding covered-dish luncheon with more food and desserts than your mind (and stomach) could imagine!
Most meaningful to the two of us, though, were the many hugs, kind words and well wishes from our friends at Berea, including a few who came back just for the celebration. And, of course, there were some tears. These folks can be assured that they will not be forgotten by us, and we hope they will keep up with us and our adventures to come.
Yes, it was a good run, but we are excited about what God has in store for us on the road ahead.
