On the Road with the Princess and the Frog

Follow our full-time RV travels with the two of us and three dachshunds.

We realize you haven’t heard from us in a while. I’ve been adjusting to not working (tough job), and the Princess has been busy with school programs, piano recitals and filing all the paperwork for her retirement. We’ve also had meetings with a realtor and an estate sale lady. So what’s up with our full-timing plans?

House for SaleWe signed the listing contract for our house with our realtor Thursday, May 12th, and the sign was put in the yard on Friday the 13th (hope that’s not bad luck). Our realtor is very optimistic about the house moving fairly quickly due to a severe lack of inventory in our price range. Hope she’s right! Just to be on the safe side, one of the secretaries at my wife’s school gave her a St. Joseph Home Selling Kit. Our Catholic friends will know all about this, and we are certainly willing to give it a try. The great thing about this sale is that it is an “as is” sale. We are not expected to make any improvements, repairs, etc. Of course, that means we have to be willing to take less than top dollar, but it’s worth it not having to deal with the hassle.

So far as the inside of the house is concerned, our Estate Sale (Link) is scheduled to take place July 1st & 2nd. Hope it will be successful, even if it is July 4th weekend. According to the estate sale lady, the only thing we have to do in preparation is to designate those items we plan to keep in our RV. Her team will come in 2 or 3 weeks ahead of time to organize, tag and stage everything else, even clothes we don’t want to keep! She even said not to clean up the garage because she has a couple who specializes in garages. Can you believe that? And that’s not all! After the sale, her team will take care of arranging for the donation and/or disposal of everything that’s left over. They’ll even sweep up everywhere. By the way, is anybody interested in buying a Petrof baby grand piano?

And what about the RV? Nexus is waiting for us to tell them the house is sold, and they’ll have it ready by closing, which is running about 45 days here in our county. We’d rather pay the balance in cash rather than go through the process of trying to finance an RV for full-time use, especially with our house on the market.

So, that’s what’s going on with the Princess and the Frog here in the middle of May. We’re really hoping to actually be “on the road” by the end of July, August at the latest. Our first stop will probably be Florida since that is where we intend to establish our domicile. Please keep us in your prayers.

So happy things are moving ahead for you. Like Bootsie – I sure do miss you both!!!! I know this part of the process is difficult, but once you hit the road, I hope you’ll feel like teenagers again. You both deserve the best our God has to offer. Love you.

Sounds like you are really moving along. Don’t forget we are to have dinner before you leave.
